hanghai International Studies University (SISU) won the highest award in international communication in Shanghai for the video series "Exploring the 24 Solar Terms" recently, which explores cuisine corresponding to different climates.

SISU has won seven awards for innovative media products for intercultural communication and production. The Silver Dove Award is Shanghai's highest award in international communication. It aims to honor great works that help foreigners understand Chinese culture.

This series of videos mainly records international students tasting different cuisines associated with different solar terms, which are traditional Chinese representations of different climates.

For example, Peter, a SISU international student, tasted and tried to make traditional Chinese food Qingtuan at the Spring Equinox (Between March 19 and 22). He said using green Qingtuan to represent spring was a unique Chinese romance.

All 24 episodes of this series have received over 1,000,000 hits on domestic and international platforms, including Xinhua Net and YouTube.

The "24 solar terms" is a time knowledge system. It was progressively built upon the long-term observation of the periodic movement of the Sun, seasonal march and phenology, and evolves in time.

SISU has also constructed China's first multilingual intangible cultural heritage external dissemination platform "Intangible Cultural Heritage on Cloud". It has received recognition from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization).
