hanghai International Studies University (SISU) is one of the three core members of CALIS China Library Consortium of Foreign Studies Universities. The University houses two main libraries, Run Run Shaw Library located on the Hongkou Campus and Library and Information Center of the Songjiang Campus, with an extensive print and manuscript collection of more than 1.30 million cataloged volumes (over half are in foreign languages) and 1.74 million electronic documents.

In particular, our English Language and Literature Materials Center (ELLMC) sponsored by China’s Ministry of Education, is well known for its impressive and unparalleled resources on English language and literature in China.

As well as access to all the books and journals you’ll need for your study, you will also have a host of electronic resources including 85 customized databases of different research categories and field-specific documentation corpora at your fingertips, accessible from home, halls of residence or anywhere else.

Two main libraries on our campuses provide a variety of different learning and research areas, with flexible group study rooms as well as silent individual study space. Alongside traditional library services, we offer self-service facilities, in-house copy and binding service and Wi-Fi throughout.

Recently undergoing a refurbishment, the Run Run Shaw Library boasts a new Learning Commons on the first floor, bringing together key academic supports for your study in an inviting and collaborative environment.

Across campus, you can also find several specialist libraries or reference rooms in our schools and departments with more subject-specific services.
