aking Trams is now a main way for SISUers to go on a city tour. Out of the west gate of SISU Songjiang Campus is just right the Wenhui Road Tram Station. Many students here love these trams, which are called "silkworm babies" because of its cute appearances.

Shanghai is one of the first cities in China to have a tram. More than 100 years ago there were trams running on the Bund. Today the Songjiang Tram Line 2 is the first tram line built in Songjiang District and it is seamlessly transferred to Metro Line 9.

20-year development of Songjiang University Area has not only witnessed the construction of Shanghai Transportation, but it is a wonderful evidence itself. 20 years ago, if one came from the downtown here, a slow and uncomfortable bus is the only choice. Nowadays there are not only greatly improved buses, but also Metro Line 9, which was built in 2007, and directly connects to the city’s massive metro network.

Here in Shanghai, you can appreciate the very convenience of metro. By merely swiping your smartphone, you can easily step into the most advanced driverless metro vehicles. Shanghai’s metro system not only covers the whole city, but also stretches into the neighboring satellite cities, such as Kunshan City in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. It is the first interprovincial subway line in China, and more lines are under planning and constructions. Now, the number of metro vehicles in Shanghai has become 7,000. The operating scale and vehicle ownership both ranks first in the world, which is not only an amazing increase in number, but also a huge leap in quality.

In recent years, Shanghai, the birthplace of the CPC, has rapidly developed its metro by leaps and bounds, writing a new chapter in Shanghai railway traffic. On the centenary of the party's founding, we look forward to a better future of Shanghai metro.
