he Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, is coming up on February 8, 2016 - Monday. This year will be the year of the monkey (猴; hóu), according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is a holiday in which Chinese people honor household and heavenly deities, as well as their ancestors. More modern generations also see the holiday as a time for family to celebrate and come together.
