ore than 200 experts and scholars from 24 top universities attended the first forum of CUAFLL (The China University Alliance for the Development of Foreign Language and Literature Discipline), which was held at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) between March 16 and 17, to mark the launch of CUAFLL.

CUAFLL, which consists of 153 Chinese universities, aims to build a new academic exchange platform for foreign language disciplines and serve for China's national development strategy. SISU president Li Yansong was elected as CUAFLL’s chairman on March 16.

Li pointed out during the opening ceremony of the forum that the alliance was set up to explore routes for innovative cultivation in the new era, and build first-class talent team of foreign languages.

“The construction of foreign language disciplines is vital to the double-first class project and the Belt and Road Initiative,” said Zong Wa, deputy secretary general of the China Education Association for International Exchange.

In the future, the member schools will take advantage of the alliance as a platform to strengthen cooperation and exchange with international counterparts, enriching the content and forms of overseas communication and promoting foreign language studies.
