This 5-week course (needing 4+ hours weekly online) involves learners in 15+ learning steps each week to enhance cultural exposure and intercultural awareness. The weekly topics move from (1) comprehending intercultural communication, (2) contextualizing cultural identities, (3) comparing cultural communication styles (4) clarifying and contrasting values, to (5) cultivating intercultural adaptation, each aiming to foster aspects of intercultural competence.

Besides introducing key ideas, theories and observations noted in intercultural studies, the design encourages active learning via “likes,” comments/replies and reflective summaries. You and/or your students can benefit from the thousands of diverse leaner comments from a range of cultures, ages, educational, work or travel experiences.
