n response to the "Staying Healthy Together" donation campaign initiated by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), SISU alumni and charitable companies donated to help with the shortages caused by the pandemic.

SISU has faced a shortage of medical and living supplies since mid-March when the university started to be under lockdown influenced by the epidemic. Nearly 8,000 students and faculty members stranded on campus.

To address the shortage, three SISU institutions - Alumni Association, SISU Education Development Foundation and Office of CPC Publicity - jointly started a campaign to raise funds and collect supplies. The campaign had got 1 ,515 donations and raised funds of more than $30,000 by Apr. 17, 2022.

SISU had received 43,769 supplies including N95 masks, goggles, sanitize from Shanghai Fosun Foundation, after Jiang Feng, Chair of the University Council sought for the help of the foundation.

Li Haifeng, Chair of the Foundation, delivered a truckload of supplies to SISU's Hongkou Campus on March 16. This was the first mission of the Fosun Family Volunteer Team after its establishment.

Li said that they will provide as much material as possible to ensure the health and safety of faculty members and students on campus.

Before that, Wu Minwen, an alumnus of SISU's School of European and Latin American Studies, who works for the Foundation, had actively contacted with SISU to donate oat milk, masks and other urgent supplies.

Ele.me, a platform for takeaway business, also reached out with offers of 5,000 supplies including sanitizers, disinfectant on March 22.

Regarding living supplies at SISU, Purcotton, a sanitary products company, and its parent company, Winner, donated 18,200 supplies including medical masks, sanitary wipes, sanitary napkins from Wuhan to Shanghai on the same day.

SISU alumni Wu Xiaoxiao contacted Yu Zhi, faculty of Office of Student Affairs and donated anitary napkins to SISU, considering that female students are in the majority at SISU.

To cope with the sudden cooling, Purcotton quickly allocated 200 pieces of clothing and delivered to SISU considering that many faculty stranded on campus had not enough warm clothes.

The China Construction Bank Shanghai Hongkou Sub-branch donated sleeping bags, air beds for personnel on the front lines on March 21 to fill the supply gap.

Additionally, Banks urgently purchased nearly 10,000 glass lunch boxes on March 23 to replace the plastic ones used in takeaways offered by canteens.

More alumni from all over the country were participating in the campaign. Zhang Bin, Wu Yiming donated money through the campaign instead of purchasing supplies.

“I am very grateful to all the people worked for us. I hope we can get through the epidemic soon.” said Zou Xinru, a student from School of Journalism and Communication, who donated to SISU when she received the supplies.
