    Professor Zhang Xuemei, Director of SISU Office of Confucius Institute, started the speech with showing pictures and texts about the development of SISU's 9 Confucius Institutes since its founding.

 speech themed “Reviewing the Past Decade of SISU Confucius Institute to Tell Chinese Stories” was held on SISU’s (Shanghai International Studies University) Songjiang campus on October 28 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of constructing SISU Confucius Institutes.

Professor Zhang Xuemei, Director of SISU Office of Confucius Institute, started the speech with showing pictures and texts about the development of SISU's 9 Confucius Institutes since its founding. She emphasized distinct features of each SISU Confucius Institute abroad and appreciated all workers for contributing to promoting Chinese culture. Sun Yiling and Xiao Zhikui, two volunteers of having taught the Chinese language and culture abroad for a time, were invited to the speech to share their experiences and feelings of working at overseas Confucius Institutes.

Sun Yiling, postgraduate of SISU Chinese Language International Studies, introduced the experiences of teaching the Chinese language and organizing cultural activities in Italy. Xiao Zhikui introduced volunteering experiences at Confucius Institute of University of Szeged, Hungary, emphasizing creative teaching methods and promoting Chinese culture, including Chinese Xun instrument, Beijing opera, calligraphy, paper-cut, tea ceremony and shadow plays.

In the question and answer session, students from different majors asked on the volunteer application and living details abroad. The three guest speakers answered the questions.

Participants were graduate students and postgraduate students from SISU’s a series of majors, including the China Studies, English Studies, Russian and Eurasian Studies, Germanic Studies, Korean Studies, Swedish Studies, Public Relations and Chinese Modern Literature.

Confucius Institute, a non-profit sino-foreign cooperative education institution, fosters cooperation of high education institutions, enhance cultural communication, and represent Chinese core values globally. There had been more than 500 Confucius Institutes established in 134 countries and regions globally by December 1, 2015. SISU has launched 8 Confucius Institutes in 8 countries since 2007, being awarded “Chinese Top Institution of developing Confucius Institutes” by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) during 2014 and 2015.
