Freshmen, Fresh scenes

SISU prepared a model of student ID card “in the large” this year to welcome the starters, which had not been seen before in the university’s history. The place of photo on the card was empty, where students and their parents can stand behind to take a portrait photo.

SISU’s Office of Accounting and Finance has allowed students to pay the fees free online since this semester, by swiping bank cards on the e-POSS machine, or by scanning WeChat QR code, either of which can be finished in a second.

Limits of order No limits of innovation

In order to impress the freshmen, volunteers from SISU’s School of French and Francophone Studies were waving papers with interesting slogans, including “I’ll be with the French language always, to the end of the age”, “Farewell Shakespeare, I’ve got a new sweetheart”, and “The No.3 teaching building, I’m coming!” .

Some schools and departments also DIY magazines specially designed for new comers.

SISU President Cao Deming, Vice-President Zhou Cheng and the Vice-Chair of SISU’s University Council Li Yuesong visited for the occasion.

Welcomers: Do things beforehand

SISU had started preparing for the welcoming ceremony since August.

The Office of Admissions has sent the freshmen two introductory brochures with QQ chatting group numbers of all majors, which facilitates them to get help from the seniors.

The freshmen can search their ID number, dorm bed number and other necessary information on SISU’s WeChat public platform.

Newcomers: Got moved at the sight of “Welcome”

“The library lobby full of words ‘welcome’ and help from teachers and seniors make me feel at home,” Wang, a freshman from School of Journalism and Communication, said excitedly.
