Cuisine Festival turns SISU campus into paradise of exotic customs

T

he Cuisine Festival as well as the “Keep stationary” performance, organized by the School of European and Latin American Studies and The Magic Club have turned the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) into a paradise of exotic customs last Wednesday.

In the middle of the Cuisine Festival, the” Keep stationary” performance was quite innovative in that all the participants were asked to stay stationary for several minutes after they chose each of their own poses. So when the music was played as the starting signal, participants began to keep stationary, holding delicious food by their hands or mouths.

Wang Jing, the chief of SISU's Magic Club, was invited to this festival to perform a magic live show. “We performed a balloon show because it would take time to blow the balloons for performance and fold them into planned shapes. So many participants were standing there, anticipating our performance,” he said.

Qi Xingjia, the lead of this Cuisine Festival, said that it was the third time that such activity had been held here. “We hope it can be characteristic of School of European and Latin American Studies, like the Shakespeare Festival that features the School of English Studies,” she explained and also regarded it as a good way to spread the culture and knowledge of those European and Latin American countries.
