aving heard that the scenery of Fangta Park is excellent and chic, I decided to have a look at the view of it in person. Therefore, on a sunny Saturday which was suitable for a short trip, I went to Shanghai Fangta Park with my friend.
Shanghai Fangta Park was built in 1978 on the site of the former commercial center of Shanghai during both the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and Song Dynasty (960-1279). Covering an area of 12 hectares, the park mainly features historical and cultural artifacts, including seven national-, city- and district-level historical structures. At the center of the park sits Fangta, or square pagoda, which was built during Northern Song (960-1127). Encircling the pagoda are the Wangxian Bridge in the Song Dynasty, Ming Dynasty wall, stone gardens and other attractions. The park has been referred to as Shanghai’s open-air museum. Fangta Fengling, one of Songjiang’s 24 attractions, invites visitors to enjoy the pleasant tones of copper bells hanging at the corners of the pagoda.
Having got through the North Gate, we crossed the archway and the front square to enter the Fangta Park. The Fangta Park’s openness, peace and serenity impressed me a lot. Through the ramp, a magnificent temple, the Tianfei Palace, appears in front of it. The hall of the Tianfei Palace is magnificent with the solemnity of a temple. From time to time in the park, I could see young women wearing ancient costumes taking photos around the Tianfei Palace. If you are in the park seeing such a scene, you may also be curious to stop and take a look at them, and even suspect that you have passed through an ancient era.
There is an S-shaped lake that surrounds the south side of the tower, stretching from west to east. We could even see the reflected image of the square pagoda on the surface of the lake, which was very beautiful. The square pagoda is famous for its “excellent beauty” with its body long and thin and its eaves wide. It is just like a slim and graceful girl who wears a long skirt.
We walked around the park and took photos of it from different angles. From the magic of ancient architecture to the beauty of natural scenery, from the elegant bamboo forest to the fascinating flowers, the entire square garden looks both harmonious and natural. In the park, no trees or flowers are planted between the main scenery such as the square pagoda and the wall, nor are entertainment places set. In this way, the status of cultural relics and historic sites is highlighted and the elegance, simplicity and tranquility of ancient Chinese national culture are fully demonstrated.
If you don’t want to go on a long journey, why not pick a weekend to take a walk in the Fangta Park. I highly recommend you to take a stroll through the winding corridors, and the deep and shallow paths in the park. You can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park, but also experience the Chinese culture hidden in these attractions.
