30 SISU Students provide language translation service for the World Forum on China Studies

students from Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) helped translate for the World Forum on China Studies, which was held on November 24, 2023.
About 400 Chinese and foreign scholars participated in the forum which focus on the diversity of Chinses culture and its development in the future.
Some SISU students help translate for the forum, and a Ph.D. student was invited as an international student representative to deliver a speech in the forum.
Zhou Zihan, one SISU student volunteering for translation at the forum, said that she was very interested in Chinese traditional culture and hoped to apply what she had learned in this work.

She said, “What impressed me most is Prof. Brook’s point that when we spread China stories, we should make foreign readers easy to understand.”
Student volunteer Yang Siqi served for Moeketsi Majoro, who was interested in local Chinese car brands. Through Yang Siqi’s detailed introduction, Mr. Moeketsi knew more about the local car brands and thanked her a lot.
Yang Siqi said, "I used to think that It’s hard to reach the story of China, but this experience made me realize that our real life makes up the story of China too."

Chen Anyi, a Ph.D. SISU student from Morocco, said, "We PhD students in China are a bridge between China and the world. I am dedicating to China-Moscow engagement."

Many foreign scholars appreciated SISU students’ assistance and capability of translation.
Timothy James Brook, a professor at Columbia University, was assisted by SISU student Zhou Zihan. He said, “She can always convey my points to the media exactly. I really appreciated what she had done for me.”
The World Forum on China Studies was co-founded by the Information Office of the State Council and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government in 2004. It provides a channel of dialogue for Chinese studies community and has become an important platform for China's foreign cultural exchanges.
