n April 4, 2019, Mr Bolla Szilárd, Hungarian consul general in Shanghai, Madam Szentmártoni Lívia, Consul for Culture and Education at Consulate General of Hungary, and Fan Li, assistant to the Hungarian consul general visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). SISU President Li Yansong received them on Hongkou campus, and communicated with them on deepening cooperation.

President Li warmly welcomed Mr Bolla Szilárd. He mentioned that since its establishment in September 2016, the major of Hungarian Language and Literature in SISU has received strong support and assistance from the Hungarian consulate general in Shanghai in terms of talent training and construction of teaching staff. SISU Hungarian Language and Literature program will admit students every three years and enroll the second batch of undergraduates in September 2019. SISU is committed to strengthening the construction of non-general languages and cultivating more talents for China-Hungary cooperation and exchange. President Li and Mr Bolla Szilárd reviewed the cooperation history between the two sides and reconfirmed the importance of bilateral cooperation.

Mr Bolla Szilárd pointed out that 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. And with the deepening of commercial intercourse, the demand for talents in Hungarian language correspondingly increases. Hungary has always attached great importance to the overseas communication of Hungarian, especially the development of Hungarian teaching in China. Hungary hopes that China could cultivate more talents to contribute to China-Hungary friendship. Both sides agreed to expand exchanges and areas of cooperation in the future.

Zhang Hongling, director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Xu Hong, dean of School of Russian and Eurasian StudiesQi Xin, deputy dean of Russian and Eurasian Studies, and Wu Yufeng, teacher of Hungarian also attended the meeting.
