he Museum of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) History and the Museum of World Languages celebrated their fourth anniversary since founding on December 7, 2023.

Since their founding, both museums have welcomed over 50,000 visitors from academia, politics, and education sectors. They have hosted over 200 lectures, academic forums, and workshops, drawing numerous scholars and experts, with a total audience surpassing 150,000.

Through five digital platforms, including an official website, WeChat, and Bilibili, the museums highlight SISU's academic advancements through written and visual content.

From 2022, the Museum of World Languages has enriched its collection with Dongba and Western Xia script exhibits. In collaboration with the Chinese Characters Museum in 2023, a special exhibition centered on Oracle script, China's earliest writing system, was presented, capturing the nation's foundational history.

Both museums have embraced digital innovations, featuring multilingual voice navigation, digital exhibitions, and a virtual showcase titled "Textual Memories in Expo Badges" for online visitors.

The museums have a multilingual volunteer team, comprising over 80 Chinese and international students, was established. They offer multilingual insights into collections, support cultural design, and research artifacts, aiming to share linguistic narratives, amplify China's voice globally, and foster cross-cultural dialogues.

In addition to language research, the two museums are also dedicated to social welfare. The museums have initiated more than 40 online courses on multilingual cultures, reaching 32 schools across 13 provinces, including Qinghai and Yunnan.

In 2023, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Arabic Language Day and the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Museum of World Languages, in collaboration with the Silk Road Strategic Research Institute, introduced the "Silk Road Teahouse on the United Nations Arabic Language Day." This event celebrated Arabic culture, highlighted Belt and Road research, and bridged cultural understanding between SISU's community and the Arab world.

To celebrate SISU's 70th founding anniversary, the Museum of World Languages was inaugurated as China's premier academic institution dedicated to the world's linguistic diversity. With a foundation in linguistic studies, the museum features three exhibition areas: "Speak" for global communication, "Write" for documenting global events, and "Translate" for interpreting world perspectives.
