SISU STORY is the first bookstore built cooperatively by a university, a publisher, and SISU's Museum of World Languages. The museum is the first on-campus museum featuring languages studies.

The books cover different languages, varying from Chinese, English, Russian and German, to French, Spanish, Arabic, and Japanese. The foreign literature is also the main category, which include books focusing on comparative literature and regional literature. These books are mainly provided by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press (SFLEP).

Apart from different foreign languages and literatures, the store also holds books about other subjects, such as regional studies, international relations studies and global history.

SISU Story's daily running totally relies on students from different majors and grades. The student staff provide guidance and service for visitors during eight working hours per day.

All books collected by SISU STORY are the one in a million. Zhao Yao, a PhD student from SISU's Institute of Linguistics, participated in the set-up of SISU STORY,said, "Selecting books and put them on shelves is a kind of art. We chose numerous books with fame both at home and abroad, such as this Chinese-English the Four Great Classical Novels, which was presented as a national ceremony.”

The original intention of the bookstore is to hope that students can settle down and enjoy the high-quality books. “What we chose can stand the test of time definitely,” Zhao said.

In nowadays, with a large number of book resources are within easy reach, the set-up of SISU STORY is not focus on profit. “The bookstore was created to provide a unique space for teachers and students to communicate outside the classroom, to meet friends and explore new knowledge,” said Gu Yiqing, one of the founding members of SISU STORY.

Next, SISU STORY will form a link with the upgraded bookstore in the Hongkou Campus, promoting mass reading and a scholarly campus atmosphere.

Many people have witnessed the growth of SISU STORY. It is not only a bookstore, but also a popular place among SISU students.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to books, SISU STORY has also focused on launching a series of official cultural and creative products. “The next step of the school is to use the bookstore as a platform to gradually promote the cultural and creative products,” Gu added.
