fficial representatives of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) visited universities in Cuba and Peru recently, and attended the 15th-anniversary celebration of the Confucius Institute jointly established by SISU and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
Miriam Nicado Garcia, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and the President of the University of Havana, said she hoped Chinese universities would send experts and scholars to Cuba to teach contemporary Chinese courses and enable students to know more about China, during her meeting with SISU President Li Yansong.

Li Yansong also visited the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). He and Professor Carlos Garatea Grau, President of PUCP, had in-depth exchanges with experts and scholars and reached a conceptual consensus on cooperation in multiple fields, such as innovation in Chinese teaching methods for Spanish native speakers.

Coinciding with the 15th-anniversary celebration of the Confucius Institute jointly established by SISU and PUCP, Li Yansong and Carlos Garatea Grau renewed the Confucius Institute Development Agreement. Li Yansong hoped the Confucius Institute would provide high-quality Chinese education for Peruvian learners.

Ciwangpingcuo, the Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Peru, stated that the collaboration between SISU and PUCP is a model of higher education cooperation between China and Peru.

During their visit, Li Yansong also met with alumni and volunteer Chinese language teachers from SISU.
