 rofessor Yang Li, vice priesident of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) signed the cooperation framework agreement with Monica Di Luca, Vice-President of University of Milan, Italy on December 8, 2016, to further education cooperation between the two university.

SISU Vice-President Yang introduced the delegation SISU’s history, course features and international communication, emphasizing the development of the Italian major of the university. He said he also hopes to expand the cooperation in series of fields, including undergraduate student exchanges, co-joint summer school, 3+2 project, joint training students of the doctoral degree, area studies and scholar communication.

Madam Monica, Vice-President of University of Milan, appreciated SISU’s efforts in cultivating talents majored in the Italian language in recent years. Madam Monica also mentioned the director of the Confucius Institute at University of Milan who was exactly the first foreign teacher having taught Italian at SISU more than 30 years ago. She said she hopes to practice the program of undergraduate student exchanges between the two universities and cooperation in other fields based on the signed framework agreement.

During the meeting, Zhang Hongling, director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Yang Ming, deputy director of School of European and Latin American Studies; Wang Jianquan, director of Teaching and Research Office of Italian; and teacher representative Zhang Lin, discussed details of undergraduate student exchange programs and summer school courses with the delegation from Milan. They also introduced SISU’s studies of China and promotion projects of the Chinese language. The delegation members included Madam Anna DE Gaetano, Vice-Chairman of University of Milan; Alessandra Lavagnino, director of Confucius Institute at University of Milan; and Marta Valentini, assistant to the director of Confucius Institute University of Milan.

University of Milan, Italian fourth largest university, enjoys reputation in highly internationalization. The university has become Italian most influential university in spreading the Chinese language and culture.
