T

he Ministry of Education announced the 2019 National First-Class Undergraduate Programs. 12 of SISU’s BA programs are included.

Initiated in April, 2019, the Ministry’s “Double Ten Thousand Plan” aims to develop some 10,000 first-class undergraduate programs at national level, and another 10,000 at provincial level, within 2 years. This year’s shortlist was chosen by the Steering Committee of Higher Education of the Ministry.

All of the 12 programs SISU initially submitted got on the shortlist. These programs are English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Persian, Korean, Translation, International Politics and Business Management. It is worth mentioning that these programs span over the university’s three PhD-conferring disciplinary clusters, i.e. foreign language and literature, political science and business management. This represents SISU’s strengths as a top-tier foreign language university, one offering a wide range of coordinated programs, and speaks to its recent year’s success in program development and talent cultivation.

In the next phase, SISU will combine its multi-lingual, interdisciplinary and intercultural strengths, adding new drive to the implementation of its “Multilingual+” Strategy. Aiming at fostering all-rounded talents with integrity, the university will continue pushing forward disciplinary reforms, developing faculties, refining its system of educational quality control and set a good example for its peers.
