T

he Confucius Institute Office of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and its overseas partner Confucius Institutes jointly organized a series of activities to promote Chinese culture.

During the activities, the Chinese culture was presented to foreign students in the form of Chinese classics reading and Chinese calligraphy workshops to celebrate the upcoming International Chinese Language Day on April 19.

As part of the activities, cultural lectures and calligraphy workshops were held by the Confucius Institute of the Catholic University of Peru and the Confucius Institute of Hassan II University of Morocco, the partner institutions of SISU.

Yi Yonggang, Vice President of SISU, said he hoped that foreign students would develop an interest in Chinese culture and willing to promote it.

A video shown during that activity reviewed the development of the overseas Confucius Institutes. Feng Hui, Director of the Confucius Institute Office, said he hoped to show the development story of overseas Confucius Institutes to the world on multiple media platforms in the future.

Roula Tsokalidou, Director of Confucius Institute of Aristotle University, Greece, gave a lecture on "Internet of Everything". She said she hoped that more international students would join in learning Chinese. The students who attended the lecture said that the stories shared by Roula had boosted their confidence to learn Chinese well.

In the "Young Chinese Scholars Workshop", international students tried Chinese calligraphy and the art of Shanghai clay paste painting.

This is the second year that SISU held the International Chinese Day. In addition to cultural workshops last year, SISU held an event named "Cloud Visit: SISU Museum of World Languages" event, inviting partners from all over the world to visit the Museum of World Languages in the form of a Zoom online broadcast.
