SISU Holds a Seminar on China-Brazil Relations from a Multicultural Perspective
26 June 2026 | By enadmin | SISU
The seminar on China-Brazil Relations from a Multicultural Perspective was held at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) recently. The seminar aims to deepen the cross-cultural communication between China and Brazil.
The presentation involved three main areas. The first area was the life and contributions of Darcy Ribeiro. He was perceived to be one of Brazil’s most influential 20th-century thinkers. The significance of translating his seminal work titled The Brazilian People: The Formation and Meaning of Brazil (O povo brasileiro: A formação e o sentido do Brasil) was addressed. The second area was the development of SISU’s Portuguese program. The third area was the translation and publication of literary classics between China and Brazil.
The discussion session covered several areas: eco-friendly cultural communication, dialogue between civilizations and cooperation on culture, innovation in civic exchanges, progress in Brazilian Sinology, construction of international discourse system, and global promotion of China’s culture. Participants of discussion included scholars from Lanzhou University, Zhejiang International Studies University, the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Tongji University, Shanghai University, and Beijing International Studies University.
In 2024, China and Brazil upgraded their ties to a level of working together to build a China-Brazil community with a shared future for a fairer world and a more sustainable planet. The 2026 China-Brazil Cultural Year signifies the developing partnership between the two countries.
The event also fostered the university’s efforts to transform its education system. This transformation builds a research on words, literature, artifacts, culture, and civilization.
