Faculty Representatives From SISU Visit Switzerland, Italy, and Greece To Enhance Talent Cultivation and Collaborative Research

aculty representatives from Shanghai International Studies University(SISU) visited international organizations, universities, and research institutions in Switzerland, Italy, and Greece from November 12th to 21st, 2023. This visit aimed to foster closer cooperation, facilitate academic interaction, and promote cultural exchanges.

University of Geneva, Switzerland and representative from SISU agreed on collaborative initiatives including graduate student training, faculty exchange programs, and laboratory partnerships. They exchanged ideas about international organizations, exploring potential avenues for curriculum collaboration, internships, and research projects.

The discussions with the the Vice President of University of Rome focused on potential collaborations in Classics, Art History, and Linguistics. Both sides expressed their preliminary intention to pursue cooperation. Li Yansong, President of SISU, also promoted the joint PhD program in World Art History during the meeting with four professors from University of Rome.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the met with the Director of the Center for Dialogue and Research on the Intercultural Heritage of China and Greece at the University of Athens, aiming to facilitate future cooperation between the two institutions. 

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki expressed its willingness to incorporate the Chinese language courses offered by the jointly established Confucius Institute with representative from SISU into its curriculum system. President Li Yansong stated his commitment to further supporting the development of Chinese language and Chinese studies programs at Aristotle University.

This support aims to contribute to the cultivation of more young talents in Greece who are proficient in Chinese, have a deep understanding of China, and can contribute to the friendly relations between China and Greece.
