ungary’s Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) Béla Bartók Choir and University Chamber Orchestra brought SISU students two wonderful concerts in Hongkou and Songjiang Campus last week.
The choir and orchestra performed Magnificat, Romanian Dances and five other western programs. They also showed audience a traditional Chinese tune: Springs Festival Overture which won the warmest applause.
The choir and orchestra’s conductor is Kovács László, winner of the Ferenc Liszt Prize, Bartók–Pásztory Award and the National Meritorious Artist of Hungary.
All seats are occupied. Audience stood up and gave a warm applause at the end of each concert.
Pang Rui, a junior in SISU, thought the performance was a bridge linking up two different cultures. She also thought audience were polite and gave the concerts an excellent atmosphere.
This year, SISU will open a new degree program in Hungarian language and culture to enhance the development of East European Studies and promote China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
