he Delegation of the Confucius Institute at Hassan-II University, Morocco visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) from March 4 to 11 to promote academic and cultural communication between China and Morocco.

SISU's Office of Confucius Institute and Morocco Hassan II University Confucius Institute delegation introduced the general situation of education respectively. They discussed more about the future development and academic cooperation of both universities on March 5.

The delegation also visited cultural attractions such as Shanghai Departments of City Planning, Yu Garden and China Art Museum, to have a further understanding of the development of contemporary China, urban development and city distribution and Chinese traditional culture. Delegation members appreciate SISU, indicating that they will continue to support Confucius Institute at University of Hassan II Casablanca.

Attendees of the meeting included SISU vice president Yang Li; Zhu Weili, Middle East Study Institute honorary director; Wang Youyong, director of Office of Research Affairs and vice director of School of Asian and African Studies.

Morocco is one of the first counties that has established diplomatic ties with China. Morocco and China have been maintaining friendly cooperative relations for a long time, with the two countries having established strategic partnership based on respect and equality. The visit aims to help Moroccan educators to know about Shanghai’s higher education, to boost cultural exchanges between the two countries which were linked by the Belt and Road, to call for further Sino-Moroccan friendship and to boost Moroccan Chinese language study and culture spreading.
