he first youth design competition on Chinese and International governance cases was held at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) on November 19 to enhance the Chinese youth competency of improving global governance.

 

The six judges and all the winners took a group photo at the end of the competition.

The competition follows the national development strategy. It aims at promoting students’ theoretical knowledge, analytical skills and collaborative skills.

Professor Deng Weijia, Vice Dean of Honors College of SISU, was invited to deliver a speech.

In her speech, Deng Weijia, Vice Dean of Honors College of SISU, hoped that the competitors would contribute the strength of Chinese youth to the unity of the people of the world and global development and progress.

The competitors are from Shanghai’s universities and compete in 19 teams, presenting their case designs for global governance in both Chinese and English.

Five groups of contestants focused on international priority issues such as sustainable development, water pollution control, women's empowerment, and infrastructure in underdeveloped area. Four groups of contestants focused on social economic development issues such as climate change and digital divide, and the impact and causes of the Belt and Road. One group also discussed the innovation and dissemination of agricultural technology

When evaluating the performance of the contestants, tutor CAI Danfeng introduced the concept "global village" and emphasized the positive impact of scientific and technological progress on the reform of the global governance system. During the final question-and-answer session, Ambassador Zhang Shuanggu stressed the importance of knowledge for talents in international governance.

The organizer of the event, Honors College was established in 2015. Cooperating with the Center for Talent Training and Innovation of International Organizations, it has played an important role in assisting the talent training of international organizations in recent years. They have been providing academic resources, interpersonal connections, research opportunities, exchange programs and other support during these years.
