u Guangyue, a law student of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), clinched the title over Korean, German, Thai and Chinese Taipei rivals at the 13th World Students GO OZA Championship this February in Tokyo, Japan.

It is not the first time that SISU claimed the final glory at the World Students GO OZA Championship. SISU student Xu Jin toped the championship in 2012. SISU has enjoyed an extraordinary athletic tradition in Go games with its Go team’s successive victories in top-level national and international competitions.

Established in 2003, the World Students Go Oza Championship is the de facto world tournament for university students. Japanese publisher Nikkei Newspaper sponsors this tournament, which brings representatives from universities in Asia, Europe and the Americas together for top-level competition and cultural exchange.

学生囲碁の世界最強を決める第13回世界学生囲碁王座戦（日本経済新聞社、パンダネット、全日本学生囲碁連盟共催）が25日までの２日間、東京都中央区の銀座インターネットフォーラムで開催され、中国代表の蘇広悦さん（上海外国語大学）が優勝した。中国代表の優勝は２年連続８回目。

世界学生囲碁王座戦は囲碁の世界普及や学生交流を目的に始まった大会。世界各地の予選を勝ち抜いた、12カ国・地域の16人が参加した。出場枠は日本と中国、韓国、台湾が男女各１人ずつのほか、欧州３人、東南アジアと北中南米が各２人、アフリカ・オセアニアで１人。出場者は２日間で計４局を打ち、スイス方式（勝ち星や対戦した相手の勝ち星の合計などで順位を決める方式）で優勝を争った。

優勝した蘇さんは法学を専攻する４年生で、２年前には準優勝した実力者。「ひとつひとつの対局に集中したことで良い結果を残せた。前回出場時には優勝目前で逆転負けしたので、その悔しさをある程度は晴らすことができた」と喜んだ。

２位は韓国代表のパク・ジョンウクさん（明知大学）で、３位は台湾の葉●（あみがしらの下に正）廷さん（国立中央大学）。４位に入った韓国のジャン・ユンジョンさん（世翰大学）が女子優勝となった。日本代表では丹羽隼也さん（慶応義塾大学）が６位、塚田花梨さん（立命館大学）が７位に入った。

日本代表の丹羽さんは「世界と実力差があると実感した。一方で、碁盤を通じたコミュニケーションができたことは、とてもいい経験になった」と話していた。
