Why are my eyes always brimming with tears? Because I love this land so deeply. See you next time, my fellows.” This humorous remark sent out by a loudspeaker at the exit relieved the tension of a nucleic acid test held on the Songjiang campus of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU).

The remark is adapted and recorded by Yang Junyu. He is a prograduate from SISU’s School of International Relation and Public Affairs as well as a volunteer for nucleic acid tests.

“After witnessing many volunteers organizing the crowds in a loud voice during the first emergency nucleic acid test on campus, I want to keep order in a relaxing atmosphere that can make everyone smile,” Yang said.

His idea turned out to work. The nucleic acid test proceeded in order with pleasure, and the video of the speaker at the exit went virus on social media.

Before the fourth round of nucleic acid testing, SISU’s Student Union of SISU collected the new content of the remark from students on social media. As a response, students submited dozens of interesting slogans derived from memes which are popular on the Chinese Internet.

Except for the nucleic acid test, the pleasure maintains on the campus during quarantine. SISU students in different dormitories held a balcony concert spontaneously on the evening of March 13, with distant chorus and waving flashlights.

Inspired by the balcony concert, SISU’s Student Union announced on the social media that music would be played in the sixth nucleic acid test on March 15, and students could order songs in the comment section.

SISU has been under pandemic control since March 2 and there have been six rounds of nucleic acid tests among all students, faculty and staff.
