he summary meeting of SISU’s Uzbekistan tour lecture “Decoding China” was held on SISU’s Songjiang campus on Oct.172019.

The lecture over China’s achievements and experience and China’s reality and theories, began on Sep.28 in National Foreign Language Institute of Samarkand, attracting over 100 students on the campus.

The two lecture speakers were Zhao Mingqi, dean of SISU’s School of Marxist Studies, and Wu Xinbo, director of SISU's Institute of China Studies , who were accompanied by Liu Tao, the associate director of SISU’s Office of Confucius Institute.

SISU’s Confucius Institute planned this lecture in late September.

“We feel that Uzbekistan is interested in China’s development, so they want to come here to deepen cultural communication. This will help SISU’s Confucius Institute to promote Chinese culture,” Zhao said at the meeting.

Zhao and Wu, along with SISU Art Troupe, had a talk on Sep.25 with Jiang Yan, the ambassador of the Chinese Embassy to Uzbekistan. Next day the two professors visited University of World Language and met with the president Rahimov.

Speaking of cultural communication, Wu said, "understanding China" has become the world's need and spreading Chinese studies must rely on various platforms such as Confucius Institutes.

As the overseas classroom of Chinese traditional culture, Confucius Institutes is also a platform to promote the exchange of civilization and research, as well as a stronghold for Chinese culture going abroad.

Wu proposed that making use of SISU resources to strengthen the construction of Confucius Institute is vital to serve the community and spread services through the community.

Besides the lecture of "Decoding China", 16 students from the SISU art troupe were also sent to perform.

Zhao pointed out at the meeting, "The activity is well designed to combines lectures and vivid artistic performances, which has impressed foreigners."
