op representatives of the Thailand’s Consulate General in Shanghai visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) on September 26, 2016 to attend the Thai’s Cultural Day and awarded prizes to winners of the Thai’s writing competition.

SISU Vice-President Zhou Cheng, meeting with Ms. Parichat Luepaiboolphan who is Thai’s Consul General in Shanghai, emphasized SISU’s contribution in preparing talented Thai’s speakers highly qualified for international work. He reviewed development of the Thai’s language major at SISU, saying that SISU is trying to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with strong skills in cross-cultural communication. He thanked the efforts of Thailand’s consulate in Shanghai to support the major’s development. He added that SISU was cooperating with some Thai’s celebrated universities, such as Thammasat  University, to foster exchange programs of teachers and students. He said he hopes the SISU will cultivating more graduates proficient in the Thai’s language to play active roles in the communication between the two countries.

Parichat said SISU has had a close relationship with Thailand, while the two countries generally have fruitfully cooperated in recent years in education and culture. She said she believes that SISU as the only university cultivating Thai’s speakers will enhance more cooperation and communication with Thai’s research institutions.  She also said she hopes more activities and sports will be held to foster cross-cultural communication between the two countries.
