he Thames Town, a town of European style, is named after the famous River Thames of the Great Britain. With the showy and dreamy English style transplanted into reality, people will feel like travelling in a time machine to a place where the blocks, buildings, churches are all old British style. Many newly-weds take their wedding pictures here and many filmmakers pick it as their filming location.

1.   Songjiang Urban Planning Exhibition Hall

The moment I stepped into the exhibition hall, I instantly saw the landmark buildings of Songjiang and the construction development of the city in different periods. People can first tour around to see the sand table models of all cultural relics of Songjiang, the model of Cangcheng historical and cultural area, and the model of Sijing ancient town historical and cultural area. Then following the path of historical development, people can see the grand and magnificent Songjiang urban construction pictures unfolded before them. In this new historical period, Songjiang aims to achieve modern construction in industry, agriculture and tourism. Among these three areas, tourism is centered around the Happy Valley of the Overseas Chinese Town, aiming to build leisurely tourism themed by returning to nature and leisurely vacation. Also a bunch of modernized recreational facilities have been built. Tianma golf course, holiday inns and bird gardens all highlight the city of Songjiang marked by the integration of tradition and modernity, and by the efforts to coexist with development. Besides, there are the magic sunglasses experience area and the city book bar for visitors to have a rest. It can be said that in the exhibition hall, people can not only better understand the past of songjiang, but also catch a glimpse of the present and future of songjiang urban construction.

2.   Songjiang Art Museum

Songjiang Art Museum is a modern art museum planned and constructed according to the modern multifunctional purposes. It is a non-profit and permanent cultural institution that serves society and social development and is accessible to the publich for free. It is the first platform for art exhibition in Songjiang. When I visited this art museum, I came across the National Calligraphy Invitational Exhibition for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition of female artists of Songjiang and Taiwan. The art museum is divided into three storeys, with the service center on the first floor. The exhibition hall is on the second floor. It is now displaying calligraphy works covering all of the famous calligraphers across the country in the National Calligraphy Invitational Exhibition. Calligraphy works of various styles, such as official script, cursive script and regular script, show the long history and profoundity of Chinese culture. On the third floor you can enjoy the calligraphy and painting exhibition with works of female artists from both Songjiang and Taiwan on display. The exhibition displays carefully carved oil paintings, meticulously sketched ink and wash paintings, imitation works of masterpieces, as well as idiosynchratic paintings and calligraphy. It not only shows the literary and artistic side of Songjiang and Taiwan, but also the gentleness and beauty of women's hearts. It discovers a new visual space and opens a window for the cultural exchanges between Chinese Mainland and Taiwan.

3.The Cathedral

The core of the town–a magnificent cathedral draws my attention immediately. The colorful glass tells a vivid story. Walking inside, I saw some catholic church members holding bibles and chanting. Every now and then, waves of children’s frolicking sounds came inside. On the lawn outside, many newly-weds or brides or grooms-to-be came here to take wedding pictures.

The Thames Town is a perfect place for family to take one-day trip. In addition to the bookstores, the cathedral, the urban planning hall and the art museum, there are some other small scenic spots such as the statue of car-waiting and the certral lake. The environment of the Thames Town is also wonderful, and lakes, plants and fresh air are everywhere. If you are a self-driving tourist, you can bring a tent to camp here. It is also a villa area where you can experience the life of people living in a villa area here.
