hat would it be like to go back more than 80 years to the time and space of history and walk in the hustle and bustle of the bund? You may think of a cup of coffee, a phonograph, an old record or an old ballad.

As is known to all, there is the Hollywood in the United States, but there are also a lot of famous sets in China, such as Hengdian, Tongli, Xiangshan, etc. We don’t have to go far to experience those movie-shooting places, because there is also a well-known classic movie city in Shanghai, that is, the Shanghai Chedun film and television base, also known as Shanghai film and television paradise and located in Chedun town, Songjiang district. Coming here is enough. This paradise, which clearly contains the amorous feelings of Shanghai in the 1930s, seems to be existing in two space-time with the bustling modern international city.

It covers an area of 800,000 square meters with construction area of 130,000 square meters. It is a comprehensive area popular among visitors with the functions of sightseeing, cultural entertainment, leisure and vacation. The group of Nanjing road, Nanjing west road, Shikumen lanes, Mahler villa, Shanghai Grand Theater, German, British and Spanish villa, churches and Peace Square can be seen here. Television shooting landscapes, excess studio and clothing factory warehouse make it a good choice to experience the producing scene of TV series and movies in China.

Because this landscape retains some architectural features of Shanghai in the past, it basically displays the features of Shanghai in the last century, which can be said to be a main place experience the essence of Shanghai culture. In addition, its role is also relatively broad, not only allowing tourists to visit and go sightseeing, but also attracting most of the crew to come to shoot. As for the sightseeing time, it is basically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day. The adult ticket costs 80 yuan.

When entering the park, we can see an open European-style courtyard. The Norwegian building is the legendary Mahler house. It is said that a British adventurer Mahler came to Shanghai in 1919 and made a fortune by betting on a horse. His daughter walked into a fairy-tale house in her dream, and she drew it on paper after waking up. Mahler saw the paper and was intrigued. He built a 106-room house based on it, each in a different style. This building has witnessed love as well as resentment in the film and television drama scenes acted here before.

Now, with a lot of commercial elements added, there are lots of modern facilities, mainly featuring snacks and places to rest, because there are many extras who work hard to make a living. As we were walking around, we saw a lot of young ladies wearing beautiful cheongsam regardless of the bad weather. They were not actors, but tourists who wanted to take photos in the background of Shanghai streets in the past. There were also some people with professional cameras and audio devices who seemed to shoot a film here. I feel that this scenic spot has suddenly become very popular since 2018. I think the biggest reason was the broadcasting of some popular TV shows in the summer. Especially for many fans, this is a must-see resort. Meanwhile, you may meet some of the super stars who are shooting, it will also be a very good thing to get an autograph of those supers stars.

When standing on the streets of Nanjing road, looking around all these antique buildings, we seemed to go back to the Republic of China period. I could not help but ask in the depths of my heart: why was Shanghai once a place where foreign powers were fierce? Why did China take on the name of "the sick man of east Asia"? Nanjing road witnessed a long history and wrote the prosperity of the city in the high buildings, at the same time, it also wrote the humiliation of the Chinese nation in the modern history of China.

We were so lucky to take a rickshaw ride through the old buildings, experiencing the feelings of going back in time, and having a panoramic view of the Shanghai in the past. For fans, it is also a pleasure to search for the memory in the movies or TV plays seen before.

In Suzhou river district, the view is broad. It was very comfortable to walk along the lake in such a spring day.

As a photography lover, I found out Chedun film and television base is really a fantastic destination for taking photos. I had an unforgettable memory there and I believe if you are fond of taking photos too, it is also a must-visit sightseeing spot.
