SISUer and 75th Anniversary | SISU’S Cure of Me
19 December 2024 | By Liu Jing (刘晶) | SISU/School of International Relations and Public Affairs/Vieira
I encountered with SISU this summer.
Along with my vision, I came to SISU, coming to the international city, more than one thousand kilometers away from my hometown. An absolutely strange feeling haunted me. I often felt confused and was at a loss. I thought that I had not been accustomed to the college life. But SISU cured me gradually.
The learning atmosphere of the library cured me. I love our library, even though I haven’t explored our library completely. But I have felt a great sense of appreciation. Undoubtedly, our library renders a comfortable and quiet place to let us students be immersed with our study. Meanwhile, a succession of designs in the library, like water dispenser, lounge pug and learning partition design, make us have a proper relaxation at the rest of studying. Our library is like treasure, as for me, I like treasure. If there is nothing else to do, I would love to stay at the library for the whole day.
The scenery I have seen in the campus cured me. I love every tree and flower in our campus. In October, the bay trees in front of canteen were covered with bay flowers, ten miles fragrance, full of golden. The willows were still swaying in the wind. In November, maple trees gradually turned yellow, and the streets of the campus were full of fallen maple leaves. So far, the most pleasant thing for me has been lying in the sun on the lover’s slope. What always heals me were rainbows in the fountain on sunny days. I believed that the rainbow was a symbol of luck.
Multi-cultural co-existence and combination cured me. SISU brings together people from all over the world. They come from different countries or different nationalities. What an amazing thing! We are destined to be here for different reasons. We have the opportunity to share our cultures with each other. I feel that I am lucky. It’s like a platform for international communication. This is actually my first time to meet so many foreign people. I am looking forward to communicating with them in the next four years. Even if I haven’t directly communicated with foreign people until now, I was pleasured to have seen the performance from a foreign friend who comes from Egypt. The mix of cultures makes me motivated to learn.
SISU cured me, including everything of it.
