SISU Launches Academic Month to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

On December 2, the Inauguration Ceremony of the School of Chinese Studies and Exchange and Symposium on Chinese Language Discipline Construction was held at SISU’s Songjiang campus. Yin Dongmei, Chair of the University Council, and President Li Yansong unveiled the new school, which builds on SISU’s long history of excellence in Chinese language education.
Leveraging rich resources of Chinese Language and Literature, the school aims to foster deeper Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, marking SISU's efforts in promoting Chinese language disciplines.
Notable milestones include SISU’s pioneering role in offering Chinese as a Foreign Language programs since 1984 and the recent approval for a Doctoral degree in International Chinese Education.

A new landmark has joined the diverse architectural collection of SISU's Songjiang Campus.
On December 4, the "Research Complex for Global Governance and Area Studies" officially opened its door. The opening ceremony brought experts and scholars from Shanghai for Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations President Dialogue and the Forum on Advancing Regional and Country.
With abundant space and cutting-edge facilities, the new building serves as a hub for cultivating outstanding talents and fostering interdisciplinary research.

On December 5, the Hongkou Campus of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) buzzed with excitement as the 8th International Conference on Interdisciplinarity in Translation and Interpreting kicked off! 
With the theme “Challenges and Benefits of Interdisciplinarity”, the event welcomed distinguished guests from international organizations, universities, and industry leaders. Together, they dived into thought-provoking discussions on how cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the education and career paths in translation and interpreting.
A highlight of the conference was the innovative relay simultaneous interpreting, where SISU faculty and students showcased their exceptional skills in real-world scenarios. This groundbreaking platform not only impressed the audience but also highlighted SISU's commitment to nurturing global translation talent.

The theme, "Technology, Language, and Higher Education for Human Progress," sparked in-depth discussions on a range of pivotal issues facing global higher education today—both promising opportunities and challenges ahead.
